Senior Macroinvertebrate Taxonomist & Quality Assurance Officer Rhonda Mendel has been with EnviroScience since 2002 and has decades of taxonomic experience with macroinvertebrates. 

Rhonda received an M.S. in Aquatic Entomology from the University of Maine at Orono and a B.S. in Biology from Grove City College. Her responsibilities at EnviroScience include the identification of freshwater macroinvertebrates and calculating community indices according to state and federal standard protocols, as well as quality assurance of macroinvertebrate sampling conducted by the company. 

Additionally, Rhonda teaches taxonomic workshops to identify chironomid midges for water quality evaluations. She remains active in the environmental field by presenting research papers at regional and national meetings. 

Rhonda has many qualifications, including:

  • Ohio EPA Level 3 QDC Macroinvertebrates
  • Trainer for Ohio EPA Level 3 QDC Macroinvertebrates

In addition to her responsibilities with the macroinvertebrate laboratory, Rhonda also serves as EnviroScience’s Quality Assurance Officer. She is responsible for overseeing data quality control for EnviroScience. She reviews both internal and external audits to ensure that the information generated by our company is of the highest quality.
